Q: Why are there final design requirements for your flexographic Pre-Press company?
 A: The final design may seem very simple to the designer, but can be difficult to decipher when someone on the production stage begins to work on that file.  To make the design flow smoothly through the production stages, details must be provided on how the design was developed. Please consider the following information before submitting artwork for Flexographic separations.Once all pertinent Information is completed, the job will become active.

A: ADOBE ILLUSTRATOR- PREFERRED PROGRAM for flexo printing. NO CONVERSIONS ARE REQUIRED. Save as an Illustrator .eps file. Avoid Transparencies if possible, as these are usually RGB. DO NOT embed Placed Images.  If using Photoshop links, place in Illustrator using the Link Option.

PHOTOSHOP- DO NOT USE PHOTOSHOP for TYPESETTING. Save files in CMYK 300DPI .eps/ .psd/ .tif/ or .eps DCS2 for Spot usage.

A: Graphic Design Guidelines For optimum printing results are:
  • Positive Ruled Lines minimum- .5 points (.007")
  • Reverse Ruled Lines minimum- .5 point (.007")
  • Positive Type Minimum- Sans Serif- 5 pts serif- 5 pts   script-5 pts
  • Reverse Type Minimum- Sans Serif- 6 pts serif- 6 pts   script- 6 pts
  • Please allow design to vendor to a standard of .008" trap in certain situations minimum trap of .005" will be applied. 3 Artwork Communication Technologies inc. will apply all necessary trapping.
  • Specify colors as process CMYK and specific Pantone Spot colors 
  • Delete all unused colors 
  • Always supply only the fonts used in design.
  • 3Artwork Communication Technologies Inc. will take no responsibility for damaged or lost media files. Only supply copies of original artwork.
  • Artwork submitted will only be returned upon request from the customer.

 A: Yes we do. Below is a list that will help prepare you to move forward with your artwork and eventually to a printed product. 
*If you would like to view this checklist in detail, click here for a PDF version (you will need to download Adobe Reader 5.0 or newer to view the form correctly).
  • Supply all fonts used in design (Include font folder/Mac Format) or all fonts converted to outlines
  • Final artwork laid out in Illustrator (layered) on proper template (Or proper template Included)
  • All support files used in final Artwork supplied
  • Native Support files (Links) provided with all original properties (layered / effects) for Flexographic color correction
  • Eyemark Dimension and Placement
  •  Seal Areas / Artwork panels listed
  •  List of all colors used in final design (especially if there is to be a white plate)
  •  List of all programs used in final design (helpful)
  • Barcode Information Supplied (i.e. Type of Barcode, and Digits)
  • Graphic Designer information if applicable
  • Acceptable File Extensions- (.eps) (.ai) (.pdf-with illustrator editing capabilities / layered)
  • If revisions are necessary, all changes must be clearly documented before revisions can be made.
*When all these requirements are fulfilled, the job becomes active.
